A Christmas Baby

Hi everyone!
Merry Christmas! I have so many--too many things to write about... the new Sylvanians and accessories I got for the holidays, how I received Nina's parcel she sent to me on the 23rd with plenty of lovely things inside, and how great the Maple Cat's house looks like when decorated for Christmas. I've decided to spread things out.

  1. I'll show all of my presents on the forum!
  2. I'll write Nina an email about her parcel and take/share pictures of that, too!
  3. I'll do a separate post for the Maple cat's house during the holidays!
I wanted to write about something other than the Maple Cat's this time, though, so I chose the Periwinkles, who have been long awaiting the arrival of their new baby, and it just might arrive on Christmas day!

It was Christmas evening at the Periwinkle house. Kate and Robert were standing on the balcony, admiring their lovely yard, snowy and white.

"Merry Christmas, darling," said Robert tenderly.
"Aw, thanks, sweetheart. Merry Christmas to you t--"

Suddenly, Kate's happy face turned into a shocked expression. "I'm having the baby!"

"What?" Robert took her the hand and called the hospital. Within minutes they were out the door, zooming out into the snowy night.

They were especially fortunate that Brittany's babysitter has the time to drop by.

"Ooohh... get there quickly, Robert!" said Kate.

Kate's good friend Imogen from medical school was doing a good job taking her place as a backup nurse. She rushed Kate to the bed without making her wait. It was urgent.

"It's a girl!" Cried Imogen.

And so it happened! Kate delivered a healthy baby girl.

"What will you name her?"

Kate and Robert thought for a moment. The little baby was born on Christmas. They decided to call her Holly Noel Periwinkle.

"That's a beautiful name," Imogen smiled. The baby was adorable with big round eyes and a tiny smile.

They wrapped Holly in a cotton swaddle. Kate was so proud, but she and Robert were crying tears of joy. It was wonderful. They couldn't wait to bring the baby home and show Holly to Brittany.

Holly fell asleep in the car during the drive home. Brittany was so happy to see her parents. Mrs. Panda, the babysitter, asked how it went.

"It was great!" said Robert happily. Kate agreed.

The next day, Robert and his friend Mr. Furbanks fixed up Holly's new room.

Robert sawed a few boards for the crib...

While Mr. Furbanks gathered the tools and handed them to Robert. Robert's never been much of a handyman, but he's learnt a few basics from his friends and his father was a woodworker, so he's not bad at it.

Brittany is such a good big sister. Her mother let her feed Holly a little before bedtime. It was getting late and everyone had to go to bed.

Holly Noel Periwinkle is a very lucky little girl. Her parents think so, too.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year/2020 :)

Lots of hugs, Emilie xx

P.S. Thank you so much HThistlethorn for the name suggestions for baby Periwinkle :) Congrats again on winning the poll for names!

    1. Dear Nina,

Thank you so much!!! The Periwinkles are very happy for the arrival of their new baby, and both them and the Maple's had fun reading about the Ghostly-White's baby mix-up... I'm happy everything turned out right in the end, for both families!

I'm also glad that you like the name Holly Noel Periwinkle... it was suggested in a name poll I made by HThistlethorn on the forum.

You're welcome for the story! I hope you, Jemima, Fudge, Hippolina, Ralfie and all of the other Riversiders have a lovely start of 2020, too!
